Congress passed both Kari’s Law and Ray Baum’s Act to better facilitate 911 calls from both your staff and residents by First Responders. Unfortunately, since these laws became effective in February, 2020, the Federal Government has done a poor job of alerting building owners and phone system vendors of the requirements and steps needed to become compliant.
To make matters worse, the Department of Justice is now able to levy large fines on non-compliant businesses, especially where elderly residents may be significantly more impacted.
